We have an exciting opportunity for a Hub Maintenance Engineer to join our Rugby Hub Team. You will be a multi‑skilled Engineer, ideally with an electrical background. Daily you report to the Senior Engineer who assigns PPM and project work across the shift. Some experience of fault‑finding across PLCs and knowledge of the 18th Edition Wiring Regulations is beneficial. You’ll be part of a team that works a 2 on – 2 off – 3 on – 2 off – 2 on – 3 off pattern across days and nights, responsible for reactive maintenance and PPM across the hub.
Overview of the Hub
The hub houses cutting‑edge equipment such as Beumer Sorters, Interroll Sorter, Carousel conveyors (EXPD, ASTEC, LAC), Caljan and Sovex boom conveyors, Lenze drives, Profinet systems, SICK and EXPD camera systems. The role involves limited facilities work and requires you to approach projects independently, proactively solve complex issues, and collaborate with external engineers and continuous improvement groups.
Responsibilities
* Ensure downtime on mission‑critical equipment is kept to a minimum by responding quickly and following good working practices.
* Communicate and liaise with operational management, machine minders and other stakeholders as required.
* Assist in planning, detailing and specifying frequencies for planned maintenance.
* Liaise and monitor external contractors on site.
* Stay aware of technical developments applicable to hub functions and make recommendations to senior engineers, engineering or hub managers as appropriate.
Qualifications
* Qualification in an engineering discipline (e.g., City & Guilds) or equivalent experience and skill learning.
* Experience and knowledge in automation is essential.
* Electrical understanding with mechanical knowledge of drivers, belts, motors, pneumatics, hydraulics, compressors, dock levelers, roller shutter doors, barcode camera/scanner systems and general maintenance equipment.
