Role
In order to bolster the business' commercial endeavors aimed at the design, advancement, and procurement of HVDC infrastructure, encompassing cable and converter systems connecting the UK to Morocco, along with ancillary operations, comprehensive support is required. The role entails a wide-ranging scope, covering all aspects of HVDC initiatives and broader engagements within the framework. It is inherently adaptable and multifaceted, encompassing assistance for PMO functions, interfacing activities, survey permits, contract oversight, and support for our Planning Application. Stakeholder engagement is inevitable, involving various entities such as government bodies, the National Grid, and communities affected by the project.
Responsibilities
The main point of contact within the Transmission team Collaboration with all members of the Project Teams, with a special focus on Procurement Interaction with consultants, contractors, and service providers Engagement with various internal and external stakeholders, including government entities, regulators, the National Grid, landowners, and other interested parties. Coordination with the external supply chain, specifically construction phase contractors
1. Contract management and negotiation of construction (ideally EPC) contracts, including commercial supply chain management, legal terms and contractual incentives.
2. Cost and risk analysis, programme evaluation, monitoring cost performance, as well as analyzing and negotiating complex contracts, claims and variations.
3. Prepare reports and collate information as well as presenting this in a concise manner for senior leadership.
4. Lead construction phase commercial and contract readiness for major EPC contracts, including strategy development, procurement, negotiation and implementation Work closely with the procurement function and in conjunction with the Transmission Project Managers.
5. Oversee commercial process development to manage interfaces between EPC contracts leading to the mobilization of the PMC for Financial Close.
6. Manage internal and external interfaces with all stakeholders Support HVDC Programme activities including risk registers, planning schedules, budgets and reports.
7. Provide development phase procurement and contract management support as required Experience in HVDC transmission systems including: Cable – includes marine survey, onshore and offshore permitting, route design, drilling sections, onshore construction, cable lay and protection Converter – includes support to the procurement process, technical requirements, civil works, operations, procedures, CDM, safety and security Project Management Company (PMC) - close co-ordination, collaboration and interface within the wider team including PMO (risks, budget, schedule/gantt), generation interface, Planning Consents – support data from cable and converter, land consents/permitting, detailed design elements and construction methodologies and logistics.
