Job Summary:
Nicholas O'Dwyer is seeking a Team Leader to play a pivotal role in delivering wastewater infrastructure projects in Mersin, Türkiye. This role will be responsible for the overall delivery and team coordination for the design review, construction supervision and defects notification period phases of several wastewater treatment plants and marine outfalls in multiple locations within the municipality of Mersin.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
* Lead and oversee the supervision of wastewater treatment plant construction projects, ensuring compliance with FIDIC contract conditions, EBRD requirements, and local regulations.
* Develop and manage project plans, schedules, and budgets, including tracking progress, identifying deviations, and implementing corrective actions to keep the project on time and within budget.
* Coordinate and communicate with all stakeholders (Client, PIU, contractors, and consultants) to ensure effective collaboration and timely resolution of issues.
* Oversee quality assurance and control, including the development and implementation of the Quality Management Plan (QMP) and monitoring contractor adherence to quality standards.
* Monitor health, safety, and environmental compliance, ensuring contractors follow approved plans (e.g., CESMP, OHS procedures) and that all incidents are reported and addressed.
* Manage contract administration, including reviewing and certifying payments, handling claims, and ensuring all contractual obligations are met by all parties.
* Prepare and review project reports and documentation, such as progress reports, cost reports, and deliverables, ensuring accuracy and timely submission to the Client and funding institutions.
* Lead and mentor the project team, ensuring that all team members are qualified, motivated, and working effectively towards project goals, and that any personnel changes are managed appropriately.
* Maintaining a culture of continuous improvements across all aspects of the working environment and projects.
* Training will be provided to fulfil the requirements of your role, your participation to all essential training will be required.
* To ensure maximum flexibility and to reflect the Company's evolving needs, additional tasks and responsibilities will form part of this role as it evolves.
Key Requirements:
* BSc in Civil or Environmental Engineering as a minimum.
* Proven experience in the management of delivery of Wastewater Treatment Plants.
* Minimum of 15 years professional experience,
* Minimum 10 years of experience in supervision services of wastewater treatment plant construction projects as Project Manager, Team Leader, or equivalent position.
* Experience in wastewater treatment plant operations or supervision of comparable nature, scale and complexity.
* Previous experience with execution or supervision of at least (1) project financed by the International Financial Institutions (such as EBRD, IFC, AFD, WB, ADB, AfDB) and under FIDIC Conditions of Contract.
* Experience in construction supervision services of at least three (3) large-scale WWTP project with at least one higher than 50,000 m3/day in capacity.
* Knowledge of FIDIC conditions of contract
* Preferably, PMP or similar reputable accredited project management certification or postgraduates in project management.
* Fluency in written and spoken English is required, whereas knowledge of Turkish is desirable.
* Experience in the region is desirable.
* Experience in the delivery of projects financed by International Financial Institutions (such as EBRD, IFC, AFD, WB, ADB, AfDB) will be an advantage.
* Competent in office packages, Microsoft, excel PowerPoint etc.
* Good time management skills, with the ability to prioritise work and manage many tasks concurrently.
* Excellent clear and concise communication skills and the ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural team.
