We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Senior Residential Support Worker to join our team. This is a vital leadership role supporting the management team and mentoring support staff while directly engaging with children and young people in care.
Main Responsibilities
* Provide high-quality care and support to children aged [insert age range], promoting their physical, emotional, and social development
* Act as a role model and mentor for support staff, offering guidance and support in day-to-day care and behaviour management
* Lead shifts effectively, ensuring smooth operation and handovers
* Assist with rota management, incident debriefs, and staff supervisions where required
* Work closely with the Registered Manager and Deputy to implement care plans and policies
* Build trusted, therapeutic relationships with children through consistency, boundaries, and empathy
* Promote safeguarding and ensure that all practices meet or exceed regulatory standards
* Complete accurate documentation, risk assessments, and contribute to care planning and reviews
Requirements
* Minimum of 2 years' experience in a residential childcare setting
* Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (essential)
* Working towards or willingness to complete Level 5 Diploma in Leadership & Management (Children & Young People)
* Strong knowledge of safeguarding procedures and child protection legislation
* Excellent communication, organisational, and leadership skills
* Full UK driving licence (preferred or essential – specify as needed)
* Ability to work shifts including sleep-ins, evenings, and weekends
* Subject to an enhanced DBS check and safer recruitment process
