Role purpose
As a member of the Flood & Coastal Risk Management (FCRM) Improvements Portfolio team, you will support the Portfolio Management office and sub‑portfolio’s project and programme work, delivering over £150m of improvements in the next three years. Your role will help inform the changes we are delivering and enable outcomes that protect communities and businesses from the impacts of flooding.
Key responsibilities
* Start up and inform new projects, helping assure live projects and supporting project managers.
* Build relationships with the Portfolio Management Office and help improve and embed portfolio management and data practices.
* Provide data analytics support and drive continuous improvement across FCRM and Incident Management.
* Participate in an incident role (usually virtual) and respond to incidents or provide business continuity during an incident.
Experience & skills required
* Formal project / programme management experience.
* Highly numerate with good data gathering, manipulation and interpretation skills; experience with large datasets and multiple users.
* Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and experience of Power BI / Tableau (or similar) desirable.
* Experience in a project support role in a complex organisation using Agile and waterfall methodologies.
* Administrative and organisational skills; support regular meetings, agenda and minutes for portfolio governance cycles.
* Financial data management and project planning skills desirable.
* Ability to gain credibility, respect and co‑operation throughout the business.
* Experience automating routine issues with a continuous improvement and problem‑solving mindset.
* Capacity to work with uncertainty and find innovative solutions to solve problems.
