Job Summary
Support the finance team through day‑to‑day operations, managing core financial processes such as purchase requisitions, supplier invoicing, employee expenses, bank and supplier reconciliations, and maintaining financial controls. Take ownership of the UK entity accounts in Xero, preparing month‑end balance sheet schedules, transfer pricing and consolidation journals, and assist with year‑end accounts, audits, and financial reporting.
What You Will Be Doing
* Process purchase requisitions, purchase orders, supplier invoices, employee expenses, and reconcile supplier statements and bank accounts.
* Own the UK entity accounts in Xero, prepare month‑end balance sheet schedules, transfer pricing and consolidation journal postings, and support year‑end accounts and audit requests.
* Maintain robust financial controls in line with company policies.
* Assist with ad‑hoc accounting tasks such as maintaining the fixed asset register, setting up payment runs, monitoring cash balances, and supporting grant‑funded projects and grant claims.
* Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy across finance operations.
* Collaborate with internal business teams and provide financial support to ensure efficient day‑to‑day operations of the finance team.
Person Specification
* Actively studying and progressing toward a recognised accounting qualification (ACCA or equivalent).
* Experienced in preparing high‑quality month‑end schedules and interpreting financial statements.
* Competent across key financial tools, including intermediate Excel (VLOOKUP, SUMIF, PivotTables) and Microsoft Office.
* Experienced in processing financial documentation such as invoices, expenses and purchase orders; practical knowledge of accounting systems (Xero or similar).
* Strong analytical thinker; able to spot inconsistencies, investigate variances, and recommend practical solutions.
* Self‑motivated and proactive; able to work independently while contributing meaningfully to team objectives.
