We are seeking an intellectually curious and ambitious Science Teacher to join an Ofsted-rated 'Outstanding' secondary academy. In this role, you will help students navigate the complexities of the natural and physical world, utilising the region’s unique status as a hub for STEM innovation to inspire the next generation of scientists. The Department & Scientific Culture You will join a high-performing Science faculty where academic rigour is balanced with a passion for practical discovery. Core Responsibilities Exemplary Instruction: Delivering high-challenge Science lessons across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 (GCSE Triple and Combined Science), with opportunities for A-Level teaching in your specialist discipline. Practical Leadership: Designing and executing rigorous laboratory investigations that foster a deep understanding of the scientific method and promote analytical reasoning. Conceptual Clarity: Demystifying complex theories—from the intricacies of cellular respiration and organic chemistry to the fundamental laws of electromagnetism and mechanics. Data-Driven Success: Utilising the academy’s sophisticated assessment framework to identify and bridge learning gaps, ensuring all students exceed their academic targets. STEM Advocacy: Coordinating extra-curricular initiatives, such as CREST Awards or science competitions, that encourage students to see Science as a vehicle for global change. The Successful Candidate We are looking for a subject specialist who is passionate about cultivating a culture of inquiry and evidence-based thinking. Requirements include: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a strong honours degree in a Science discipline (Biology, Chemistry, or Physics). Proven Track Record: Evidence of delivering exceptional learning outcomes at GCSE, with a deep understanding of current AQA or Edexcel assessment objectives. Instructional Versatility: The ability to teach across all three science disciplines at KS3, while maintaining expert-level knowledge in your specialism for KS4 and KS5.
