We are seeking an Electrical Engineer to join a high-performing team at an exciting time as they address the future safety needs of buses and coaches. The successful candidate will be eager to learn a complex role involving light mechanical and electrical systems, with the ability to troubleshoot faults logically and thoroughly.
This position suits self-motivated, proactive individuals who work well in a team. You will represent the company and aim to deliver quality solutions to customers safely and efficiently.
This role has become available due to changing UK Bus regulations and will take up to 3 years to complete. Initially, it will be a 12-month fixed-term contract, with potential extension to 3 years, involving site visits across the UK to survey and install new systems in buses and coaches (full training provided).
We welcome applications from Auto Electricians or electrically biased engineers seeking a change. Relevant backgrounds include Electrical Installation Engineers (commercial, industrial, domestic), CCTV or Alarm engineers, Generator or rolling stock electricians, or those with NVQ qualifications or extensive experience. Key Responsibilities
* Survey and install electrical kits in buses and coaches, including site visits across the UK.
* Complete installation surveys and paperwork.
* Perform initial installations following manufacturer guidelines.
* Make electrical connections as instructed.
* Test and calibrate equipment for optimal performance (full training provided).
* Work efficiently to complete tasks within set timeframes.
* Maintain high standards for quality, safety, and environmental considerations, striving for continuous improvement.
Required Skills and Qualities
* Knowledge of electrical systems and wiring, light pipe, hose, and mechanical fitting.
* Proficiency with tools and measurement equipment such as drills, wire strippers, crimpers, and multimeters.
* Basic IT skills and clear communication (written and verbal).
* Valid UK driving license.
* Willingness to learn and be a key team member.
* Flexibility to travel, including overnight stays, across various sites.
* Conscientious and diligent, committed to delivering effective practice alongside the team.
