CAE Engineer
Stowmarket, Suffolk
£48,000 - £50,000 + Bonus + 7 x Life Assurance + 16% Pension + Benefits
We’re working with a world-leading manufacturer in robotic and cordless home & garden products to recruit a CAE Engineer into their Stowmarket R&D team. You’ll play a critical role in shaping the performance, safety, and reliability of next-generation products through advanced simulation and hands-on engineering.
Working within cross-functional, user-centric development teams, you’ll own simulation activities across mechanical structures, airflow systems, and gearing mechanisms—supporting both new product introduction and existing product evolution.
What You’ll Be Doing
* Deliver static and dynamic FEA (Abaqus) on components, sub-systems, and full products
* Perform stiffness, maximum load, and dynamic drop test simulations
* Run CFD simulations to design and optimise airflow components and systems
* Design and validate gearing and mechanisms using KISSsoft
* Translate PTC Creo CAD data into robust CAE models
* Drive design-for-reliability across development teams
* Produce clear technical documentation, reports, and recommendations
* Support product testing, validation, and legal compliance data retention
* Work with external suppliers on tooling and design queries
What We’re Looking For
Essential:
* Degree in Engineering, Physics, or Mathematics
* Exposure to FEA (academic or commercial)
* Solid grounding in mechanics (statics, dynamics, energy transfer)
* Knowledge of 3D CAD modelling
* Understanding of material properties (polymers & metals)
* Strong written, verbal, and technical communication skills
* Hands-on, methodical, problem-solving mindset
Desirable:
* 3+ years’ experience in simulation / CAE
* Experience with Abaqus, CFD software, KISSsoft, or Simlab
* Knowledge of FMEA, test instrumentation, and failure physics
* Experience with planetary gearboxes, clutches, belts, or eccentric mechanisms
* MEng or FEA-focused academic background
