ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN
Initial training and shift patterns
Initial training will be on day shift: Monday–Thursday 08:30–17:00; Friday 08:30–16:00. (Shift allowance will be paid during this period.)
After training, the role will rotate across shifts: Early shift Monday–Friday 06:00–14:05; Back shift Monday–Friday 14:00–22:05; Night shift Sunday–Thursday 22:00–06:05.
The Role
Escape Recruitment are seeking skilled Electrical Equipment Maintenance Technicians to join our clients team. This role is key in supporting production operations by ensuring equipment is kept in optimum working condition. You will carry out both reactive and preventative maintenance, minimising downtime and maintaining high standards of reliability. Regular communication with Supervisors, Engineers, and fellow Technicians will be an important part of the role, ensuring smooth handovers and accurate fault reporting.
Key Responsibilities
* Diagnose, repair, and maintain equipment to ensure maximum uptime.
* Log repair activities and updates within the maintenance management system.
* Report outcomes of work to Supervisors and Engineers, highlighting recurring issues.
* Use spare parts efficiently and assist with ordering when needed.
* Support continuous improvement by sharing knowledge and identifying opportunities for equipment enhancements.
* Supervise and guide trainees to ensure high-quality standards are maintained.
* Participate in shift handovers and provide input during breakdown situations.
* Carry out checks to ensure machines and test equipment are functioning and calibrated correctly.
* Take appropriate corrective action when equipment performance falls outside specification.
* Follow work instructions, safety procedures, and company policies at all times.
* Contribute to 5S workplace organisation and housekeeping standards.
* Collaborate with Equipment Engineers on modification or upgrade projects.
What We’re Looking For
* A completed and recognised apprenticeship in Electrical Engineering.
* A qualification at HNC level (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering.
* Practical experience within an automated manufacturing or high-tech production environment (semiconductors or similar industries are desirable).
* Proven ability to carry out hands-on planned and reactive maintenance across complex production systems.
* Strong problem-solving and fault-finding skills.
* Confidence in interpreting and working from electrical schematics.
* A motivated, resilient, and proactive attitude, remaining calm and solutions-focused under pressure.
* Basic computer skills for reporting and record keeping.
Knowledge or experience that would be beneficial
* Robotic handling equipment.
* Different sensor technologies.
* Motor controls such as inverter, servo, and stepper systems.
* Microprocessor-based equipment.
Location
This role is based in Livingston. Candidates must be able to reliably commute to the site.
