Consultant Cardiothoracic Radiologist

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the dynamic Radiology team at Royal Papworth Hospital and pursue a career as a Consultant Radiologist. Amongst other clinical services, we have a busy Thoracic Oncology service; TAVI, ACHD, Valve, Structural heart disease, Pulmonary Vascular Disease, Heart Muscle groups and lung defence & ILD groups. The Transplant, Critical care and advanced heart failure services are other vital areas of work at RPH where radiologists make a key contribution.


Main duties of the job

Maintenance of the highest clinical standards in imaging to support the management of cardiothoracic patients.

Share with colleagues the responsibility for the day-to-day management of the Cardiothoracic Radiology Service and the running of relevant MDTs.

Teaching and training of junior staff, Medical Students and Radiographers.

Actively participate in both departmental and Trust matters concerning clinical governance and audit.

Responsibility for ensuring active participation in continuing medical education (CME).

Person Specification


Qualifications

* Entry on GMC Specialist Register; eligible for entry on Register or within six months of receipt of Certificate of Completion of training (CCT) in Radiology at time of interview
* Success in Intercollegiate Specialty Examination or equivalent
* FRCR or equivalent
* Qualification in another specialty (eg MRCP)
* Higher Degree (eg MSc, MD, PhD)


Experience

* Ability to take full and independent responsibility for clinical care of patients, including an ability to offer expert clinical opinion on a range of problems in cardiothoracic imaging.
* Ability to conduct sub-specialty MDTs.
* Undertake cardiothoracic imaging on-call cover in a specialist cardiothoracic unit.
* Ability to liaise with other hospitals and imaging departments within the region and beyond
* Expertise in CT guided and pericardial thoracic interventions
* Nuclear cardiology and lung oncology reporting including MIBI and Lung oncology PET.
* Expertise in reporting cardiac &/or chest MRI
