A well-established engineering manufacturer in Northampton that is continuing to strengthen its safety culture across site is looking to appoint a Manufacturing Engineer who can take ownership of H&S-focused projects, improving safety through practical, process-driven solutions.
This is an ideal role for a degree-qualified Engineer with experience leading H&S improvement projects within a manufacturing environment. It is not a compliance-only role. It is about applying expertise to design safer processes, reduce risk and drive real change on the shop floor.
Responsibilities as Manufacturing Engineer:
Leading and delivering health & safety improvement projects across manufacturing operations
Designing and implementing safer processes, layouts and equipment modifications
Reviewing and improving risk assessments, COSHH assessments, RAMS and safe systems of work
Supporting incident and near-miss investigations, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions
Working closely with EHS, production and engineering teams to embed best practice
Driving continuous improvement initiatives with a strong focus on risk reduction and compliance
What we’re looking for in a Manufacturing Engineer:
Degree-qualified in Engineering (Mechanical, Manufacturing or similar)
Proven experience as a Manufacturing Engineer within a manufacturing or engineering environment
Demonstrable experience leading or supporting health & safety improvement projects
Strong understanding of COSHH, risk assessments, safe systems of work and incident investigation
Ability to influence across production, engineering and leadership teams
A practical, hands-on approach to solving safety and process challenges
