An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Tax Claims Team Leader to join a respected, specialist consultancy that partners with accountancy firms across the UK. In this role, you will take ownership of leading a team delivering high-quality tax claims services, while shaping processes, managing key client relationships, and contributing to continuous improvement across the department.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a claims professional with leadership experience, or a senior claims handler ready to take the next step into people management.
Key Responsibilities:
* Manage the day-to-day workflow of the Tax Claims team, ensuring timely, accurate and compliant processing of claims
* Lead, coach and support a team of claims handlers, including 1:1s, training, performance reviews, and identifying development needs
* Oversee claim allocation, ensuring an even caseload and high service standards
* Act as the escalation point for complex or high-value claims, providing guidance on policy wording and technical matters
* Monitor and report on team performance, ensuring adherence to internal procedures and regulatory standards
* Play a key role in recruiting, onboarding and developing new team members
* Collaborate with senior stakeholders to refine processes and improve service delivery
* Prepare regular management information (MI), analyse trends, identify risks and contribute to operational decisions
* Build and maintain strong relationships with key accountancy clients, resolving any service issues promptly and professionally
* Handle a small personal portfolio of claims as required to remain close to process and service delivery
Key Skills and Experience:
* Proven experience in a supervisory, team lead or senior claims handler role
* A strong understanding of tax-related claims, including fee protection and HMRC investigations
* Excellent client communication and relationship management skills
* Ability to interpret and apply policy wordings to complex claims scenarios
* Organised, detail-focused and comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
* Familiar with claims handling systems and proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Outlook
* Experience working with or supporting accountancy firms is an advantage
* A collaborative, proactive, and solutions-focused approach
This is an ideal role for someone looking to step into a leadership position or further develop their people management experience within a highly respected and specialist organisation.
