As an Accounts Receivable Administrator at Athena Care Homes, you will be responsible for supporting the efficient operation of the finance department, with a focus on accurate billing, cash collection, and effective debt management, while working closely with our care home teams to ensure a smooth and compliant resident billing process.
About the role
This is an important role within our Central Office finance team, where you’ll play a key part in ensuring our billing processes are accurate, timely, and supportive of our homes. You’ll work collaboratively with management and administrators within our care homes, helping to maintain strong financial controls while ensuring residents and their families experience a professional and seamless service. You’ll also contribute to minimising debt across the business through effective credit control and proactive communication, while supporting the development of best practices in billing across our homes.
Salary
Up to £30,000 per annum.
Shift Pattern
37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm.
Location
Central Office, Russel House, Basildon, Essex, SS15 6TF. This role is based on-site and offers no remote working options.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
* Oversee resident billing, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and correct record keeping
* Process and allocate payments, including bank receipts, and monitor contract billing
* Manage credit control activities to minimise outstanding debt and prevent escalation
* Support and collaborate with Home Administrators and Leadership teams on billing processes and debt management
* Contribute to monthly financial reviews and support training of home teams in billing best practice
Training, Skills & Experience Required
* GCSEs in English and Maths (Grade C/4 or above)
* Strong administrative experience, ideally within a finance function
* Experience in billing or credit control (healthcare or similar sector advantageous)
* Proficiency in accounts receivable systems (e.g. Sage, CareHQ)
* Strong attention to detail, with excellent communication and problem-solving skills
