About the role
The Justice Health and Wellbeing Services (JHWS) business unit within the Department of Justice provides primary health, mental health, psychological support, and alcohol and other drug services to adult prisoners in Western Australia. Service delivery is underpinned by the principle of equivalence, which requires that prisoners have access to health care that is comparable to that available in the wider community.
Reporting to the Executive Director Justice Health and Wellbeing Service, the position is responsible for leading staff providing essential support services, including psychological, prison support, occupational health, disability, and other allied health services, to create and support a cohesive and comprehensive health care delivery model.
About the successful candidate: A proven strategic leader who has experience operating in a complex health service environment. You will have demonstrated stakeholder engagement skills, with a track record of building productive working relationships to gain support for and deliver successful health programs that improve patient outcomes. As an executive member, you will be a high performer with established capabilities to contribute to the strategic, business, operational and budget directions of JHWS.
Eligibility
Special conditions – Applicants must have:
1. A current valid motor vehicle driving licence.
2. The availability to occasionally travel intrastate and/or interstate for operational purposes.
Qualifications – Applicants must:
3. Have a recognised Masters’ qualification, in a relevant health professional discipline such as, but not limited to, psychology, social work, occupational therapy, allied health or human services area.
4. Have at least two (2) years experience in a senior management role with proven ability to manage and lead a team of complex health services in psychological and/or wellbeing services aligned with legislation, policy, procedures and best practice.
5. Be registered with the relevant national registration authority.
Permanent positions – To be eligible for appointment to permanent positions in the West Australian Public Sector you must be an Australian citizen or have permanent resident status in Australia.
WWC positions – In accordance with the National Child Safety Principles, people who work directly with children and young people, you must have a current Working with Children Check or be able to successfully apply for one to be eligible for appointment to this position.
