As part of a consortium with GE Vernova, Metlen Energy & Metals is involved in delivering Eastern Green Link 1 (EGL1), a high-voltage direct current (HVDC) cable link between Torness, East Lothian, and Murton, County Durham, scheduled for operation in 2029.
The Apprentice HSE Advisor will join the site HSE team while undertaking a Scottish Vocational Qualification (SVQ) in Occupational Health and Safety at SCQF Level 7, progressing towards the NEBOSH National General Certificate.
This role offers an exciting opportunity to learn site supervision responsibilities and contribute to a significant project.
Key responsibilities include:
* Developing and reviewing safe systems of work.
* Conducting site visits to ensure safety standards.
* Delivering safety training like toolbox talks and inductions.
* Analyzing incident data and presenting findings.
* Handling administrative duties and maintaining records.
Core competencies and requirements:
* Interest in construction and a desire to become a HSE advisor.
* Proactive and problem-solving attitude.
* Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with confidence to challenge unsafe practices.
* Good time management skills.
* Right to work in the UK without sponsorship.
* English language proficiency.
* Full UK driving license.
* Minimum of a National 5 qualification or Level 2 Functional Skills in English and Maths.
