Primary Objective The Commercial Manager will play a critical role in our rapidly growing Battery Energy Storage System team and our expansion within our Energy Division. The Commercial Manager will own and lead the RFP & competitive bid and quotation processes, support in the negotiation of contracts with contractors & suppliers, conduct cost analysis, and making strategic product decisions for projects ranging in scope and complexity for assigned projects. Key Responsibilities The key responsibilities of this role include but are not limited to the following tasks: Own and lead the RFP response and competitive bid processes for projects, Analysing commercial and legal aspects of Customer RFPs to develop a competitive submission and continue to grow the opportunity pipeline. Lead the Customer and sub-contractor contract negotiation phase for equipment, services, and contracts by collaborating with key internal and external stakeholders to identify and mitigate risks for the project. Develop key requirements for RFPs to sub-contractors and evaluate for inclusion of the proposal. Responsible for bid analysis and modelling to support the strategic procurement process. Work with supply chain to capture competitive intelligence and generate insights on supply chain and BESS landscape. Interacts with external parties including customers, vendors, and suppliers. Actively identify opportunities to improve business processes and support the implementation of such. Ensure the organisation's internal contract documents are accurate and well maintained. Upon award, own the contract hand over to the project delivery team Provide contract support to the Project’s team during contract delivery. Person Specification To be successful in this role the Commercial Manager Strong Commercial Acumen : Ability to analyse RFPs, contracts, and bids from both commercial and legal perspectives. Contract Negotiation Expertise : Proven experience in negotiating complex contracts with customers and subcontractors. Project Management Skills : Capable of managing multiple bid processes and coordinating cross-functional teams. Analytical Thinking : Skilled in bid analysis, financial modelling, and evaluating supplier proposals. Procurement Strategy Knowledge : Understanding of strategic sourcing, supply chain dynamics, and market intelligence. Education, Qualification and Certification Desired Experience & Qualifications: Commercial contract negotiation and RFPs management experience for equipment supply in the energy sector. Proficient at aggregating and understanding and responding to requirements and information as part of the RFP process. Proven experience in partnering with internal and external stakeholders to optimize a response and the decision-making process. Proficient with Microsoft Office applications. Fluent in English in speaking and writing. Enthusiasm for working with Customers and suppliers. Strong “intrapreneurial" mindset for process analysis, problem solving and strategy development skills. Ability to take critical decisions in the face of limited or conflicting data and under time pressure. Willingness and ability to travel and work intensively during negotiation periods. Excellent communication skills and confidence with executive level presentations. Demonstrated teamwork skills and proven leadership skills in virtual project teams.
