What difference will you make? Chaffinch is a relatively small charity aiming to impact children in Kibera. Many overlook Chaffinch as insignificant among larger charities, yet we have the potential to make a very real difference. Finding the right volunteer for this role could mean the difference between a charity that helps a few young people and one that generates real opportunity and hope for children to build successful lives for themselves and future generations.
Qualifications
* Several years' experience with Facebook and Instagram, and an awareness of where people are currently engaging with charities and the type of content that will capture the attention of an audience.
* Adherence to strict ethical guidelines and understanding of their implementation; strong understanding of Chaffinch's purpose.
* Strong portrayal of the charity and its beneficiaries in a way that supports the overall aims and mission of Chaffinch.
* An interest in current international affairs and issues of international development would be helpful.
* Knowledge of Canva is helpful (though intuitive); graphic design expertise is not required.
* A passion for the work of Chaffinch with the children of Kibera.
Responsibilities
We need an experienced volunteer (social media management professional or ex‑professional) who loves getting stuck into social media, several years of experience in the use of Meta channels, preferably including paid marketing on these channels.
We are building a team with passion for social media; we have under‑utilised accounts on Facebook, X, LinkedIn and Instagram. We provide a strategy document, content pillars and a constant supply of photos and videos.
We are looking for one or two people who can engage with our desired audience and produce/manage content that will create a passionate response in our supporters.
The role could involve daily interaction with supporters or scheduling content to be managed on a day‑to‑day basis. Content for each week is dropped into a dedicated WhatsApp group on Saturdays and the role could even be done on just one day a week.
We also hope to find a volunteer who is an expert storyteller and can craft engaging paid ads to increase our reach and donor base. We have a budget for paid advertising.
The volunteer will work largely independently while the team will be on hand. They will report to the charity's CEO and be encouraged to speak up and join decision‑making.
We are a small and friendly charity expecting effort rather than perfection.
