Job purpose:
* Reporting to the Commercial Manager, as the Design Development Engineer, you will be responsible for creating engineering solutions aligned with Eden's manufacturing and outsourced capabilities, incorporating voice of the customer requirements, and demonstrating an understanding of retail and consumer insights through brand representation.
* You will liaise closely with customers and account managers to understand the design brief, manufacturing, and sourcing to ensure deliverables meet quality and time expectations.
* Working to tight deadlines, you must convert design briefs into engaging and compelling design solutions.
Duties and responsibilities:
* Support the sales team and other departments to meet and understand customers' design development needs.
* Produce innovative, engaging, and functional design solutions exceeding customer expectations.
* Manage the entire project/prototype process, including customer approval and prototype creation.
* Coordinate with internal teams and customers to ensure prototypes meet timelines and specifications.
* Use a design development tracker to manage deadlines and communicate with stakeholders.
* Document and share best practices in design development.
* National and international travel may be required at short notice.
Required Competencies and Experience:
* Proficiency in INVENTOR or similar CAD software, with 3-5 years of experience.
* Experience with mixed material solutions including metal, timber, plastic, glass, and graphics.
* Proven ability to produce high-quality, accurate CAD drawings communicating design intent.
* Strong planning, organizational, and customer relationship management skills.
* Excellent presentation and communication skills.
* Well-organized with strong time management skills.
* Positive, driven, energetic team player with professional ambition.
* Self-starter, independent, solution-oriented, and confident in articulating engineering ideas.
Location:
Candidates should reside within a commutable distance from Wellingborough or Aberdare, as we have sites in both locations.
