Job overview
The Microbiology Department is based at the John Radcliffe Hospital and is part of the South Four Pathology Partnership Network. The department provides services to the Oxford University Hospitals NHSFT, ICS BOB Primary Care, Oxford Health NHS, South Pathology Partnership, other NHS providers, private care, UKHSA, Oxford University, and research trials.
The laboratory is a service, and successful applicants, once competency is achieved, will participate in working day, evening, weekend, and bank holiday sessions. (Apprentices under a certain age may have different working patterns). The post is full-time.
Main duties of the job
* Undertake a Level BTEC Apprenticeship in Healthcare Science.
* Gain practical experience in a Microbiology department.
* Be supported by a workplace mentor and training coordinator.
* Complete off-the-job learning and be part of the OUH Apprenticeship team.
* Hold GCSE Level or equivalent Grade C/ in English, Maths, Science.
* Support laboratory activities such as sample receipt, data entry, sample processing, maintaining analysers, stock control, waste management, and housekeeping.
* Uphold confidentiality, demonstrate enthusiasm, work well in a team, and communicate confidently with staff at all levels.
