The Natural Resources Institute (NRI) ) is an internationally renowned multi-disciplinary centre of the University of Greenwich that undertakes research, consultancy and training to support sustainable development, food security, economic growth and poverty reduction in developing countries. An opportunity has arisen for a Postdoctoral Research Associate in Microbiology who has relevant experience bacterial antimicrobial resistance and a vision to work on an international project with a team of scientists to deliver impactful research.

The appointed candidate will join an MRC-SA/MRC-UK funded project whose objective is to address and understand the role that the water, wastewater, animal waste systems and food, plays in the transmission of antimicrobial resistance (AMR) through an Integrative One Health Surveillance for Antimicrobial Resistance (IOSAR) - Tracking AMR from farm to community. This project aims to develop an innovative approach to integrated AMR surveillance of potential hotspot microenvironments to aid the detection of antimicrobial resistant bacteria associated with human, animal, and environmental health.

This is a fixed-term position until 30 April 2028 based at NRI on the University of Greenwich's Medway Campus. We particularly welcome applicants who are available for an immediate start.
