The Team You’ll Work With
HSBC Innovation Banking’s Strategic Fund Solutions (“SFS”) team is responsible for managing key aspects of the bank’s relationships with its Private Equity, Private Credit and Venture Capital clients. SFS optimises the client experience through dedicated relationship management and delivering the breadth of the bank’s products to this sector, including banking, lending, treasury, and foreign exchange. This role is part of SFS’ Origination efforts which focuses on generating new business with new clients and manage the team’s syndication capabilities in the market through engagement with the lender ecosystem.
What You Can Expect To Be Doing
Reporting to the Head of Origination, the Director’s responsibilities include:
Source new fund finance opportunities across Private Equity, Private Credit and Venture Capital clients.
Deal structuring of fund finance solutions, including capital call facilities, NAV lines and GP financing solutions.
Conduct initial credit assessment and work closely alongside the Coverage & Debt Finance team, who are responsible for the expansion of existing relationships & deal execution.
Support the Head of Origination to continuously improve market visibility, monitor market trends, competitor activity.
Support the Head of Origination to continuously develop existing product capabilities and underwriting guidelines to meet market demand.
Think creatively in developing bespoke solutions with a meaningful impact and the potential to unlock a larger business opportunity for SFS / HSBC.
Develop and maintain an external industry network, and act as an ambassador for SFS through attendance at relevant events & conferences.
Develop and maintain the team’s syndication capabilities in the market through engagement with the ecosystem.
Contribute to the development of junior colleagues within the SFS team
Requirements
Strong prior and relevant experience in originating deals within the PE/VC space (some experience should ideally be in fund finance).
Excellent understanding of the fund and management company level needs of private capital firms and the broader private capital industry
Experience in NAV finance, GP finance, or other structured lending (e.g. Leveraged Finance) strongly preferred
Deep knowledge of competition dynamics in the fund finance market in the UK and Europe
Passion for structuring & solving financing needs
Infallible ability to combine attention to detail, empathy, senior stakeholder management, and creative thinking in a fast paced role
Value-led team players / culture carriers strongly preferred

Our home office in Finsbury Square, London. We offer hybrid working to our employees, so you can flex between home and the office. This role is part of a client-facing and relationship focused team and is therefore offered with an expectation of at least 3 days working from the office.
