The One Lancashire and South Cumbria Procurement Department is hosted by East Lancashire NHS Trust, with staff based regionally. This role is based at University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust and reports to the Scan 4 Safety Manager at Westmorland General Hospital.
Main duties of the job
MAIN DUTIES & KEY WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:
Assist in implementing and maintaining a materials-managed service, handling day-to-day ordering for customers, replenishing goods at theatre and departmental levels using barcode systems as appropriate.
Receive, check, and store deliveries, ensuring items are rotated, not expired, correctly stored, and the storage area remains tidy.
This role involves physical effort, including manual handling of roll cages and unpacking products in confined spaces daily.
Process discrepancies for returns and credits promptly and appropriately.
Conduct quarterly reviews with ward/theatre/department leads, analyzing spending patterns and stock levels using system data.
Maintain all related paperwork in line with codes and location changes.
Flexibly work hours to meet service needs.
Provide cover for other Materials Management Assistants as directed by the Supply Chain Supervisor.
Ensure compliance with Trust Standing Financial Instructions (SFIs) and policies.

Education & Qualifications
* GCSE English/Maths or equivalent, or relevant experience
* ECDL or relevant experience, CIPS Level 2
Experience
* Manual handling/warehouse experience
* Customer service skills and experience dealing with customers, public, and suppliers
* Experience with NHS Supply Chain stock control or purchasing/supply
* Experience in stock control, purchasing, supply, or logistics environments
* Experience with Purchase Order and stock control systems
Skills, Ability & Knowledge
* Ability to lift and move goods within Trust sites following manual handling guidelines
