Our Approach to Inclusion: The Bank values diversity, equity and inclusion. We play a key role in maintaining monetary and financial stability, and to do that effectively, we believe we need a workforce that reflects the society we serve.

The Employee Relations team works with colleagues and Unite the Union to support effective employee relations and the resolution of workplace issues. This includes using our expertise to ensure that the right people are consulted at the right time with the right advice.

Our culture: Objective, fair and consistent application of the Bank's people policies to all colleagues while recognising that individuals are at the heart of employee relations. The ER team sits within the People Directorate alongside Reward, Culture, Diversity, Equity & Inclusion and Talent, Acquisition & Development. Most team members have a CIPD qualification and/or other relevant HR qualifications or experience (e.g., mediation).

At the Bank of England, we want all colleagues to feel valued and respected, so we are building an inclusive culture that supports people from all backgrounds. We celebrate all forms of diversity, including age, disability, ethnicity, gender, gender identity, race, religion, sexual orientation and socioeconomic status, believing that diverse perspectives lead to better decisions for the public.

We welcome applications from individuals who work flexibly, including job shares and part‑time patterns. We partner with external organisations to support adjustments in the recruitment process when needed. For most roles where work can be carried out at home, we aim for colleagues to spend half their time in the office, with a minimum of 40% per month. Subject to that minimum, individuals and managers should collaborate to find what works best for them, their team and stakeholders. Finally, we are proud to be a member of the Disability Confident Scheme; if you wish to apply, check the box in the 'Candidate Personal Information' under the 'Disability Confident Scheme' section of the application.
