About Us
At Oxfordshire County Council, Occupational Therapy is central to how we support people to live independently, safely and with dignity. We believe in enabling people to do the things that matter most to them — and Occupational Therapists are key to making that happen. Our Review Team ensures that people’s care and support continues to promote their independence, wellbeing and engagement in meaningful occupation. Working alongside social care colleagues, health partners and community organisations, we deliver high-quality, strengths-based practice that makes a tangible difference across Oxfordshire. We champion values of always learning, being kind and caring, promoting equality and integrity, taking responsibility and daring to do things differently. These values underpin everything we do and shape the way we support our residents and each other.
About The Role
As an Occupational Therapist in our Review Team, you will use your core OT skills and professional reasoning to help people maximise independence and achieve their personal outcomes. You will work directly with people, families and carers to understand what matters to them in their daily lives and explore community resources and informal networks that support meaningful occupation and wellbeing. This role is fundamentally about functional assessment, enabling participation, and finding practical solutions that support people to live well in their own homes and communities. You will carry out holistic Occupational Therapy assessments and reviews in line with the Care Act 2014, use functional analysis to identify barriers to independence and opportunities for change, review specific equipment and moving and handling practices, support reablement and recovery focusing on skills, confidence and participation, and contribute to safeguarding enquiries using Making Safeguarding Personal principles.
You will manage your own caseload, respond to urgent situations where needed, and act as a trusted assessor, recognising when to involve other specialists. Your documentation will be clear, defensible and rooted in strong professional reasoning. You will also contribute to the development of Occupational Therapy practice within the team through reflection, supervision, sharing knowledge and supporting colleagues and students.
