We are looking for someone with or without NHS Ophthalmic experience to join a multi-disciplinary team at Furness General Hospital to deliver high-quality patient care.
The successful candidate will undertake specific ophthalmic assessments following comprehensive training. Experience with ophthalmic technology such as Humphrey Visual Fields Analyser and OCT would be advantageous.
We seek a flexible, enthusiastic, and committed individual dedicated to providing excellent patient care. The successful candidate will receive support from the Clinical Team, Nurse-coordinator, and Department Manager.

The Ophthalmic Technician will work as part of the multidisciplinary team to provide seamless, high-quality care to patients under supervision from a registered staff member.
The role involves developing skills in:
1. Corneal Topography, assisting in diagnosis and treatment of corneal conditions.
2. Using Humphrey automated visual field machines across all age groups, including pediatrics and the elderly, accommodating varying communication skills.
Our services operate from three main hospitals: Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, plus community healthcare facilities including Millom Hospital, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.
FGH and RLI offer comprehensive hospital services, including Emergency Departments and specialized units. WGH provides general hospital services with an Urgent Treatment Centre for minor conditions.
All sites offer outpatient, diagnostic, therapeutic, day case, and inpatient services, along with outreach programs across Morecambe Bay.
Our community services aim to support individuals in maintaining independence and managing health conditions through high-quality care and support in various settings.
