Head of Technology | Wilmslow | On-site with flexibility (one day from home)

Reporting to: Board-level stakeholder

Salary: £75k - £85k +/-

THE OPPORTUNITY

This is a key leadership role within a growing international organisation supporting approximately 1,400 users across multiple brands and locations.

With modern cloud-based infrastructure, established systems and a capable technical team already in place, the focus of this role is on ensuring IT services continue to evolve alongside the needs of the business. We're looking for a visible and commercially-minded Head of IT who can build strong relationships with stakeholders, improve operational effectiveness and ensure technology delivers a consistently high-quality experience for users across the group.

The environment is more akin to an SME than corporate, with an ongoing fluidity around plans and priorities, requiring an agile and proactive approach.

A highly technical Service Desk Manager leads the day-to-day technical operation, allowing this role to focus on the bigger picture; developing the team, improving service delivery, identifying opportunities for improvement and ensuring IT engages proactively with the business rather than simply responding when issues arise.

Whilst you'll need sufficient technical credibility to lead and challenge where required, this is first and foremost a leadership role focused on people, service, communication and business engagement. THE ROLE

IT Leadership

  • Lead and develop a small IT team covering service desk, infrastructure, business systems and projects
  • Create a culture of accountability, collaboration and continuous improvement
  • Support and develop future leaders within the team
  • Ensure resources and priorities remain aligned to business needs

Service Delivery & Operations

  • Oversee IT operations supporting approximately 1,400 users globally across a range of activities
  • Drive improvements in service performance, user satisfaction and operational efficiency
  • Ensure consistent, reliable and professional IT support across all locations
  • Establish meaningful service metrics and performance standards

Business Engagement

  • Build strong relationships with stakeholders across multiple business functions
  • Understand operational challenges and identify opportunities where technology can add value
  • Act as a trusted partner to the wider business, ensuring IT remains aligned to organisational priorities
  • Encourage a proactive approach to service and support across the IT function

Technology, Suppliers & Governance

  • Ensure secure, resilient and scalable technology services across the organisation
  • Manage key technology suppliers and service partners
  • Take ownership of a technology budget of approximately £1 million
  • Balance service quality, operational effectiveness and commercial considerations
  • Support governance, security and business continuity activities

Projects & Change

  • Oversee delivery of business and technology initiatives
  • Ensure IT readiness for site openings, operational changes and business growth
  • Promote practical, scalable solutions that deliver tangible business benefit

THE PERSON

  • An experienced IT leader with responsibility for operational IT functions and teams
  • A strong people manager who enjoys coaching, mentoring and developing others
  • Comfortable engaging with stakeholders at all levels of the organisation
  • Commercially aware, with experience managing budgets and third-party suppliers
  • Able to combine strategic thinking with hands-on leadership when required
  • Sufficiently technical to lead credibly, whilst recognising that success in this role is driven by leadership, communication and business partnership rather than technical expertise alone
  • Experience within a multi-site environment would be advantageous

This role will suit someone who is passionate about building relationships, developing teams and ensuring technology services make a measurable contribution to the wider business.
