Hours of Work – Full Time, 36 Hours per week (Part Time will be considered).
Location – Royal Edinburgh Hospital, Morningside Road and surrounding areas.
The role is based on site only; no hybrid working or working from home is available.

Role Overview
An enthusiastic and conscientious Medical Secretary / Administrator will provide comprehensive administration and secretarial support within the Royal Edinburgh & Associated Services Administration Team. Key duties include:
* Provide secretarial services within the directorate including audio transcription of clinical correspondence and typing of letters.
* Manage appointments, book rooms, and coordinate meeting logistics.
* Handle basic administrative work – filing, tracking notes, setting up agendas.
* Take minutes of various meetings (Family Planning, Care Plan Approach, Discipline Huddles, MDT meetings, Ward Rounds, Discipline Handovers).
* Provide basic administration/equipment support for meetings such as Junior Doctor handovers.
* Act as first point of contact for clinicians, access and update diaries, produce accurate clinical correspondence using copy or audio typing.
* Adapt to varying workloads, prioritize efficiently across multiple areas.
Essential Qualifications and Experience
* Previous administration experience with excellent people skills and telephone manner.
* Friendly manner with strong interpersonal skills.
* Motivated to achieve results and able to develop strong working relationships across multidisciplinary teams.
* Excellent administration and advanced keyboard skills.
* Excellent oral and written communication.
* Attention to detail; able to work individually or in a team.
* Ability to prioritize workload across multiple locations, manage competing demands and use own initiative.
* Work autonomously with minimum supervision; appreciation of confidentiality.
* Good knowledge of Microsoft Office packages.
* HNC/SVQ Level 3 in Secretarial Studies or Business Administration, or equivalent relevant experience.
Desirable Qualifications
* Training in TRAKcare Patient management system.
* Medical Terminology and Audio typing skills.
* Previous minute‑taking experience.
