Overview of the role
The Piping Design Engineer supports field design activities for piping discipline. This involves handling interfaces with various disciplines and resolving piping engineering issues during on-site installation of pipework and supports. Main tasks include:
1. Gathering input data, analyzing hypotheses, and preparing loading description reports.
2. Engaging with stakeholders (installation contractors, CW interfaces, other disciplines).
3. Performing mechanical stress analysis: piping flexibility, supports calculations, etc.
4. Proposing modifications if sizing criteria are not met.
5. Closing open points and comments.
6. Assessing modifications from stakeholders after packages are handed over.
7. Performing hand calculations and running macros to assess modification feasibility.
8. Checking calculation notes and guide drawings from external subcontractors.
9. Maintaining QA procedures in design delivery.
10. Collaborating with CAD designers/detailers on drawing preparation.
Key Relationships
The employee will interact closely with the discipline manager and stakeholders to support team organization and ensure site queries are resolved timely, in line with project milestones.
Requirements:
Essential:
* Master's degree in Science or Mechanical Engineering.
* Minimum 2 years' experience in piping mechanical design, nuclear industry, or equivalent.
* Knowledge of Eurocode, ASME, RCC-M codes.
* Understanding of piping sequence from detailed design to commissioning.
* Experience with 2D and 3D design software: PDMS, Navisworks, Pipe stress, RSTAB, ANSYS SPDL, WORKBENCH.
* Experience with piping and support calculation tools.
* Ability to work in a multicultural environment.
* Curiosity and motivation to learn.
Desirable:
* Knowledge of the HPC project or previous EPR studies.
* Understanding of nuclear engineering and related specifications.
* Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills in English.
* Ability to meet deadlines and produce quality documentation.
