We are looking for an experienced Test Rig Technician with an Engineering qualification to join a multinational manufacturing business based in Plymouth. As a Test Rig Technician, you will be responsible for the development of production test rigs and supporting the Team Manager. You will work closely with development engineers to ensure that production test rigs are maintained, supported, and in good condition in line with all development standards.
Responsibilities include:
1. Fault diagnosis and repairs on electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
2. Attending courses and toolbox talks as required.
3. Recording all activities on CMMS.
4. Ensuring all work complies with Health & Safety at Work legislation and company policies.
5. Prioritizing workload to respond promptly to breakdowns and complete PPM schedules.
6. Carrying out routine oil cleanliness checks on all production test rigs to meet specifications.
7. Maintaining test rig oil cleanliness filter systems to reduce costs and improve operational efficiency.
8. Verifying test rig oil performance using measurements such as TAN and water content.
9. Organizing routine calibration of all production test rig master instrumentation.
10. Working within 5S standards to maintain cleanliness and orderliness of test rigs.
11. Maintaining a list of critical spares to minimize downtime.
12. Creating SOPs and providing training to operators as needed.
13. Ensuring fixturing and equipment are fit for purpose, reworking or replacing where necessary.
14. Maintaining the fitting and hose life register, checking and replacing fittings/hoses as per life requirements.
15. Working according to the TPM schedule, including hydraulic, electric, and cooling water systems.
16. Monitoring oil consumption and recording improvements through 5S activities.
17. Monitoring and fixing leaks, maintaining housekeeping to reduce slips, trips, and falls.
18. Ensuring motor test specifications are loaded onto test rigs timely.
Education & Experience:
* Mechanical Engineering qualification with solid mechanical knowledge.
* Ideally, experience with hydraulic systems, pumps, and motors.
* 3-5 years of experience in a manufacturing maintenance role.
