Join Our Team as a Children's Home Deputy Manager!

Contract Type: Full-time, permanent
Salary: Up to £40,831.30 per annum (inclusive of sleep-in shifts and on-call payments)
Specific Hours: 39 hours per week
Accountable to: Registered Manager and Responsible Individuals

Your Role
As our Deputy Manager, you will play a pivotal role in the daily operations of our established 4-bed home in Barnsley. You will work closely with the Registered Manager to ensure that we provide high-quality care that respects each young person's rights and individual needs.
Main Responsibilities
* Service and Practice Management:
o Ensure compliance with legislation, safeguarding requirements, and organisational policies.
o Maintain health and safety standards and ensure staff are well-trained.
o Support accurate record-keeping and contribute to quality assurance systems.
o Promote effective childcare practices and continuous improvement.
o Prepare for and participate in internal and external meetings.
o Provide on-call support and sleep-in cover as needed.
o Oversee documentation to maintain regulatory standards.
* Human Resource Management:
o Assist in the recruitment process and ensure safer recruitment checks.
o Support staff induction, supervision, and appraisal processes.
o Facilitate staff development through training and CPD.
o Manage staff rotas and oversee expenses.
o Conduct investigations into complaints and disciplinary matters.
* Resource Management & External Relations:
o Monitor budgets and ensure effective use of resources.
o Address maintenance issues to keep the home safe and compliant.
o Represent the organisation positively in all external interactions.
o Liaise with commissioners regarding placements and admissions.
What We’re Looking For
* Passion for delivering high-quality care and education.
* Experience in leading or managing a team.
* Strong knowledge of safeguarding and child protection.
* Minimum Level 3 Children & Young People qualification.
* Level 5 Leadership & Management qualification or willingness to pursue.
* Understanding of the needs of vulnerable young people.
* Ability to maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality.
* Emotional resilience in challenging situations.
* Full UK driving licence and access to transport.
* Flexible, reliable, and committed to organisational development.
