THE ROLE
As an Accounts & Business Advisory Associate, you'll be involved in key compliance and accounting tasks for SME clients. This entry‑level role offers a clear pathway to professional qualification.
* Support preparation of annual statutory accounts following UK GAAP and FRS standards
* Assist with tax and VAT return completion and client record keeping
* Communicate with HMRC on tax and VAT queries
* Contribute to compliance processes and internal controls
* Manage your chargeable hours to meet billing targets
* Support administrative tasks, including document management and data entry
* Engage in ongoing training, with study and mentorship provided for progression to ACA/ACCA
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE
The right candidate is eager to learn, organised, and motivated to develop a career in accounting. Basic familiarity with accounting systems and standards is essential.
MANDATORY
* Enrolled in AAT or equivalent; part‑qualified or QBE ACCA/ACA candidates
* 0 to 2 years of experience supporting accounting or finance tasks
* Knowledge of UK GAAP and FRS 102/105 for SMEs
* Proficient in MS Excel, with familiarity with Sage, Xero, or QuickBooks
* Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
* Ability to work autonomously and within a team
PREFERRED
* Experience with tax software (e.g., IRIS, TaxCalc)
* Knowledge of automation tools or cloud‑based accounting platforms
* Exposure to audit processes or internal control frameworks
* Good communication skills for client and HMRC interactions
