Reach Stacker Operator
Location: Immingham
Salary: £15.07 per hour
About the Role
Were looking for an experienced and safety-conscious Reach Stacker Operator to join our busy port operations team. Youll be responsible for the safe and efficient movement of containers within the terminal, supporting vessel discharge/loading and inland haulage operations.
Key Responsibilities
* Operate reach stackers to lift, move, and stack shipping containers safely and efficiently.
* Load and unload containers from trucks, rail wagons, and storage stacks.
* Support vessel operations by positioning containers for loading/discharge in line with operational plans.
* Carry out pre-start and daily safety checks on equipment and report any defects or issues promptly.
* Follow terminal procedures, yard plans, and instructions from the operations team to maintain flow and minimize delays.
* Ensure containers are handled without damage and in accordance with safety and weight regulations.
* Accurately record container movements using terminal operating systems (TOS) or handheld devices.
* Work closely with other operators, signalers, and ground staff to maintain safe working distances and clear communication.
* Comply with all health, safety, security, and environmental regulations at all times.
* Support general yard duties as required to ensure efficient port operations.
Skills & Qualifications
* Proven experience operating a reach stacker in a port, container terminal, rail freight, or similar environment.
* Valid Reach Stacker licence / competency certification (essential).
* Knowledge of port or terminal operating procedures and container handling practices.
* Strong focus on safety, situational awareness, and adherence to protocols.
* Good communication skills and ability to follow instructions clearly.
* Physically fit and comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
* Flexible to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and public holidays as required by vessel schedules.
