Location: Manchester or Gloucester
Full-time, permanent position.
Hybrid working arrangement: 3 days in the office and 2 days remote.

Overview of the Role:
As an Equipment, Handling, and Packages Engineer, you will play a crucial role in the design activities for our Lead Fast Reactor (LFR), with a focus on the balance of plant and experimental facilities. Your responsibilities will include mechanical engineering throughout all project phases, feasibility studies, conceptual design, and detailed engineering. Additionally, you will collaborate closely with multi-disciplinary engineering teams and contribute to the development of breakthrough solutions.
Main Duties/Role and Responsibilities:
* Perform mechanical engineering across all project phases.
* Conduct feasibility studies, conceptual design, and detailed engineering.
* Develop internal standards for rotating and static equipment.
* Prepare specifications and material requisitions for equipment supply.
* Evaluate manufacturer bids and ensure compliance with quality standards.
* Collaborate with equipment manufacturers and third-party inspectors.
* Provide creative solutions in mechanical and equipment design.
* Contribute to the development of 3D models and testing processes.
* Coordinate work with other technical personnel and foster a collaborative work environment.
Attributes/Experience Required:
* Demonstrable experience in mechanical design of static and rotating equipment, valves, and piping systems.
* Experience in power or nuclear 'balance of plant' is advantageous.
* Knowledge of standards for pressure vessels and rotating equipment (ASME, PED).
* Familiarity with project engineering cycles and design principles.
* Strong analytical skills and ability to participate in team meetings.
* Education: Degree in Mechanical Engineering; Master's or PhD is a plus.
Languages:
* English (Required): Proficiency in both written and spoken English is mandatory.
* Italian and French (Desirable): Basic to intermediate proficiency is advantageous.
Location:
* This role can be based in our Manchester or Gloucester offices, with a minimum of 3 days a week attendance required.
* Regular business travel to Italy and France may be necessary.
