Aspiring Educational Psychologist – Teaching Assistant Ealing – Education and Training

Role: SEN LSA
Location: Ealing
Pay: £101.40 per day
Start Date: September 15th 2025 onwards
Contract: Full-time, Monday to Friday (8:30 am – 3:30 pm), Temporary to Permanent (Until the end of the Summer Term, with the opportunity to go permanent)

Are you a Psychology or Criminology graduate looking to gain valuable experience working with vulnerable young people before pursuing a career in Criminal Justice, Youth Justice, Social Work, or Mental Health Support? This is a fantastic opportunity for those also considering careers in clinical psychology, occupational therapy, or educational psychology.

Milk Education is recruiting for a Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to work in a specialist school in Ealing, supporting students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, autism, and challenging behaviour. This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in behaviour intervention, de-escalation techniques, and trauma-informed approaches—all of which are essential skills for a future in social care or justice-based roles.

About the Role:

As an LSA, you will work with students aged 4–11 who experience challenges with emotional regulation, social interaction, and accessing learning. Many of the pupils have faced adverse childhood experiences, trauma, and difficulties with attachment or trust. Your focus will be on building relationships, supporting emotional wellbeing, and promoting positive behaviour, helping each student develop the skills to re-engage with education and daily life.

Aspiring Educational Psychologist – Teaching Assistant Ealing

You will be working in a specialist primary school for children with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) relating to their mental health, including anxiety, depression, trauma, and associated SEN.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Build positive, trusting relationships with students to support engagement and emotional security
2. Help pupils develop emotional regulation strategies and manage behaviour
3. Provide both academic and emotional support in small groups or 1:1 settings
4. Support children at risk of exclusion or disengagement
5. Assist classroom teachers and promote access to learning
6. Use trauma-informed and restorative practices to manage behaviour and resolve conflict
7. Encourage the development of key life skills that support long-term outcomes

What We’re Looking For:

8. Graduates in Psychology, Criminology, Youth & Community Work, or related fields
9. Non-graduates with relevant experience in youth work, mentoring, care, or support roles are also encouraged to apply
10. Sincerity and a clear motivation for working with vulnerable children is essential
11. A calm, patient, and resilient approach, with the ability to remain grounded in challenging situations
12. Experience working with SEMH, youth offending, or in care settings (voluntary or paid) is desirable, but not essential—full training provided
13. A genuine interest in rehabilitation, advocacy, and social justice

Why Choose This Role?

14. Gain essential frontline experience for careers in education, social care, youth justice, or mental health support
15. Be part of a supportive, reflective team that prioritises mental health, behaviour support, and student wellbeing
16. Help shape the future of young people by breaking down barriers to education and growth
17. Access to training and long-term development pathways
18. Opportunity to secure a permanent role beyond July 2026
