The Opportunity
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Field Service Engineer to join our globally respected organisation, Mirion Technologies. Based primarily near key customer sites around the North West area of England, this role offers a unique opportunity to work with advanced Radiological Protection Instruments, Non-Destructive Assay systems and Gamma Spectroscopy equipment.
You will play a critical role in delivering technical support, installation, commissioning, calibration, routine testing and repairs, both on-site and remotely. This is a hands‑on position requiring a high level of technical expertise, initiative, autonomy and a commitment to quality and safety.
Key Responsibilities
* Perform field service activities across various customer sites, including installation, calibration, testing, and repair of nuclear‑measurement systems
* Provide remote and on‑site technical support to customers across the UK and occasionally travel abroad
* Troubleshoot complex systems and deliver effective solutions independently or as part of a team
* Maintain accurate documentation in line with QHSE standards
* Promote the company’s service capabilities and uphold our core values: Integrity, Commitment, Accountability, Respect and Exploration
* Collaborate closely with UK and international service teams to ensure seamless support delivery
About You
We are looking for a proactive and technically capable individual who thrives in a dynamic field environment. The ideal candidate will bring:
* A recognised engineering apprenticeship and a minimum ONC in Electronics or Electrical Engineering is desirable (or equivalent experience / qualification)
* Experience with radiation is desirable (not essential as training will be given)
* Knowledge of radiation measurement instruments and gamma spectroscopy (training will be provided if needed)
* Familiarity with working on nuclear licensed sites such as Sellafield, EDF, MAGNOX or Dounreay (preferred, not essential)
* Strong initiative, motivation and a commitment to delivering high‑quality work under pressure
* Excellent interpersonal, organisational and communication skills
* Eligibility for UK security clearance (British or EU passport holder)
* High level of English proficiency
