We are now recruiting for the exciting role of Lead Project Planner, to be involved in industry leading, cutting-edge design project for a new type of power station.
The Lead Planner is responsible for overseeing the planning team, ensuring that schedules are realistic, achievable, and aligned with business objectives. This role involves leading a team of planners, coordinating with cross-functional departments, and providing strategic insights to support decision-making and project delivery.
They will oversee a team that will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and managing detailed project schedules using planning tools such as Primavera P6. They will lead planning meetings and workshops with the planning team and other stakeholders to gather input and ensure alignment on project timelines.
They will monitor project progress, identify potential risks or delays, and propose effective mitigation strategies to keep projects on track. Regular reporting will be a key part of Lead Planner role, including the preparation of dashboards and updates for senior management that highlight key milestones, schedule variances, and forecasts.
They will ensure that planning standards, procedures, and best practices are consistently applied across all projects. In addition, they will mentor and support junior planners, providing guidance and training to help them grow professionally.
They will also support resource planning and allocation to optimise efficiency and productivity across projects.

Key Selection Criteria
Working within planning team
* Experience of working in a planning team environment
* Experience of leading team objectives and supporting day to day tasks
* Experience of coaching and mentoring a team
* Experience in providing training to junior staff on the role and associated processes
Knowledge and experience of working within an integrated programme
* Knowledge, experience of the structure and reporting of a Master Integrated Plan (MIP) or Integrated Master Plan (IMS) and its associated Integrated milestone schedule (Horizontal and Vertical Logic)
* Working with key stakeholders within the integrated Programme (Engineering, Supply Chain & Procurement, Programme Management, Operations and Manufacture)
Knowledge of project management tools, systems, and process
* Knowledge and experience of Primavera P6 (both front end scheduling and architecture (WBS, Resource dictionary, coding, and user defined fields)
* Knowledge and experience of Earned Value Management and EVM systems
* Knowledge and experience of change management and baseline change control
Technical knowledge of Nuclear, Engineering programmes
* Knowledge and experience of working in the Nuclear sector
* Knowledge and experience of working on complex programmes
* Knowledge and experience in Engineering design maturity
Risk Integration
* Skilled in integrating scheduling with cost and risk frameworks
* Experience monitoring and mitigating schedule risks through proactive planning
