Overview
This Band 6 nurse training post (adult or paediatric registrant) is for our Teenage Cancer Trust Unit, caring for young people aged 13–20 years. We are offering a Band 6 training post that supports you to progress from a Band 5 nurse with at least two years haematology/oncology experience. The 6-month ward placement as a Band 5 nurse will help you gain confidence and achieve the required competencies; if objectives are met within 6 months, you will be offered the Band 6 post with no need to interview again. You will care for patients undergoing treatments including bone marrow transplant, chemotherapy and radiotherapy, within a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities
Main duties include contributing to the safe, efficient delivery of care for young people with cancer and haematology-related conditions, coordinating care within a multidisciplinary team, and supporting a range of treatments including chemotherapy, bone marrow transplantation and radiotherapy.

Knowledge and qualifications
* Registered Nurse Part 1, 2 or relevant section of the register
* Accredited mentorship course or willing to undertake
* Relevant accredited clinical course (oncology/haematology 30 credits OR equivalent)
* BSc or working towards

* NVQ assessor
Experience

* At least 2 years' experience in this specialty
* Proficient in chemotherapy administration and advanced IV administration skills or working towards
* Completion of chemotherapy workbooks 1 and 2
