Hospice in the Weald is looking for an exceptional clinical professional to join our team as a Clinical Practice Educator

About the Role (Job summary)

The post holder will be responsible for the development, coordination, and delivery of high-quality, patient-centred clinical education and training within the hospice environment.

This includes leading the implementation of robust competency frameworks to support professional development and ensure excellence in palliative care.

The post holder will provide mentorship and guidance to a multidisciplinary team, fostering a culture of continuous learning and reflective practice.

Acting as a role model, the post holder will confidently challenge assumptions, promote evidence-based approaches, and disseminate best practice across the organisation.

The post holder will be the IPC Link Practitioner for the Hospice


Main duties of the job

Clinical Education:

* Develop and deliver engaging, patient-centred clinical education programmes.
* Lead the implementation of competency frameworks to support professional development.
* Conduct training needs analysis in collaboration with the Governance Team and Learning & Development Manager.
* Mentor and guide staff, fostering a culture of continuous learning and reflective practice.
* Promote evidence-based approaches and disseminate best practice across the organisation.

Infection Prevention & Control:

* Oversee the IPC programme across all hospice sites.
* Provide specialist input in infection identification, prevention, and control.
* Lead and support a network of IPC Champions, facilitating training and updates.
* Monitor infection control practices, conduct audits, and contribute to improvement plans.
* Act as a key point of contact for IPC queries and support management in clinical decision-making.
* Monitor staff compliance with IPC policies and initiate actions to uphold standards.

Hospice in the Weald provides care completely free of charge to patients with a terminal illness, and those important to them, in West Kent and northern East Sussex. This means we are there 24 hours a day to help, support and care for patients with an illness where a cure is no longer possible, and for patients who will at some stage die from their illness, whenever that may be (you may hear this referred to as palliative care).

People are often confused by what a Hospice actually does. Were there 24/7 for anyone who needs us, caring for our patients, as well as those important to them, providing physical, medical and emotional support through our services. Anyone can also access ourHelp Hub, full of information, advice and guidance, including direct contact with our team.

Its not just at the end of life that Hospice in the Weald can help. We want to ensure that anyone affected by a terminal illness; not just patients, but also those important to them, can access the support they need when they need it. Whether this means a family member or friend, our Services will provide support to anyone important to a patient. We provide care which is completely tailored to each person as an individual, to help our patients make decisions that are right for them and their loved ones.


Job responsibilities

Alwaysuphold professionalism, in accordance with Hospice in the Weald values and theNMC Code of Conduct, HCPC Standards.

Activelyengage in personal and professional development through the Hospice AnnualReview process, continuously updating knowledge, skills, and applying learningto practice.

Demonstratecompetence in the use of information and communication technology relevant to the role.

Recogniseand respond to the evolving need for flexible, 24/7 working patterns to supportpatient care.

Consistentlystrive for excellence in all aspects of clinical education and practice.

Maintainaccurate records, including training attendance and participation, in line withorganisational requirements.

Exercisesound judgement in knowing when to work independently and when to seek adviceor elevate concerns.

Undertake any other duties reasonably requested tosupport the delivery of high-quality care and education.


Person Specification


Experience

* Minimum of 4 years post registration experience
* Proven experience in designing and delivering clinical education programmes, ideally within palliative or end of life care settings.
* Experience in developing and implementing competency frameworks to support clinical practice and workforce development.
* Strong understanding of adult learning principles and evidence-based teaching methodologies.
* Previous experience mentoring or supervising staff and students in a clinical environment.
* Knowledge of current infection prevention and control standards, with experience in leading or supporting IPC initiatives.


Qualifications

* Registered healthcare professional e.g. Nurse or Paramedic
* Degree in health-related subject.
* Postgraduate qualification in education, clinical teaching, or a relevant field and/or a mentoring qualification.
* Evidence of continual professional development.
* IPC link practitioner qualification or willing to undertake
