Site Reliability Engineer (DV Security Clearance)

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Site Reliability Engineer to join our team in Gloucester or Manchester. Candidates must be UK nationals already holding an HMG HLC clearance and be prepared to work from client‑site when required to ensure the reliability and availability of critical systems.
Responsibilities
* Architect, build and operate scalable, secure, fault‑tolerant cloud environments across AWS, Azure or GCP, optimizing for performance, availability and cost efficiency.
* Lead migrations of legacy systems (e.g., lift‑and‑shift, re‑architecture) to the cloud with minimal downtime.
* Automate cloud resource provisioning, CI/CD pipeline deployments and configuration management using Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible or similar IaC tools.
* Implement IAM, encryption, VPC/NSG policies and ensure compliance with standards such as GDPR, ISO 27001 and SOC 2.
* Continuously monitor workloads using tools like CloudWatch, Prometheus and Datadog; drive performance tuning and cost optimisation.
* Develop and test backup/DR strategies, conduct restore drills and build self‑healing infrastructure to ensure reliability and uptime.
* Collaborate closely with DevOps, development, security and operations teams; prepare architecture/design documents, network diagrams, runbooks and training materials.
Required Qualifications
* Hands‑on experience with AWS, Azure or Google Cloud Platform.
* Proficiency with Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible or equivalent IaC tools.
* Experience deploying and managing Docker and Kubernetes clusters (EKS, AKS, GKE or on‑prem).
* Competent in Python, Bash, PowerShell or similar for automation and tooling.
* Strong understanding of VPC architecture, subnets, firewalls, load balancers and storage tiers.
* Experience building CI/CD pipelines with Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, GitHub Actions or Azure DevOps.
* Ability to implement and monitor IAM, encryption, audit logging, network isolation and compliance frameworks.
* Familiarity with monitoring and optimisation tools such as CloudWatch, Grafana, Datadog, Prometheus, ELK or similar.
