Domestic Couple (Estate Manager/Groundsman & Housekeeper) Surrey
Start Date: Flexible according to when ideal couple found
Salary: £70k - £80k gpa dependent on experience
A warm and welcoming family based in Surrey is seeking an experienced domestic couple who love children and animals to work alongside existing staff. This is a long-term, live-in position for a discreet, hardworking, and upbeat couple who enjoy working as part of a team.
General Schedule
• Monday to Friday, min 40 hours per week
• Flexible to work occasional weekends with time off in lieu
Responsibilities
Estate manager/Groundsman
- Responsible for day-to-day care, presentation and long-term management of 40 acre estate in Surrey.
- Daily walking of dogs. Checking on Chickens, Alpacas and sheep including feeding, watering, enclosure checks and general welfare.
- Maintain lawns, parkland, woodland, paddocks, driveway and formal landscaped areas to an exceptional standard.
- Carry out mowing, strimming, edging, pruning, hedge cutting, leaf clearance, tree care and seasonal works.
- Help maintain planting schemes, borders, shrubs and kitchen garden.
- Oversee irrigation, drainage, fencing, gates and estate infrastructure.
- Maintain pathways, courtyards, gravel drives and hard landscaping. Caring for fountains, ornaments and outdoor furniture.
- Operate and maintain estate machinery and tools.
- Supervise other grounds staff and contractors. Working with another more junior full time groundsman and a part time gardener.
- Occasional driving duties or help with school run.
- Responsible for security of the estate, particularly when principles away. Monitor CCTV, alarms and security systems.
- Occasional indoor handyman duties.
- Oversee tennis court and swimming pool maintenance.
- Assist with car services etc.
- Willingness to occasionally travel to London house to address any issues there.
Housekeeping
• High-standard housekeeping throughout the main residence
• Laundry and ironing
• Very occasional family cooking - a bonus, but not essential as Chef employed
• Occasional babysitting
Requirements
• Strong team players essential with a flexible and positive attitude
• Discretion and reliability are essential
• Two drivers required
Accommodation
• 2 bed cottage provided as staff accommodation (bills covered)
• Pets welcome but regret not suitable for dependents
Salary negotiable according to experience £70k - £80k gpa
