Due to the upcoming retirement of a long-standing and valued team member, we are seeking an experienced and proactive Nurse Manager or Advanced Nurse Practitioner to join our friendly, supportive, and forward-thinking GP surgery.
Main duties of the job
This is a varied and autonomous role with scope for leadership and clinical contribution. You will lead and deliver care across chronic disease areas including diabetes, hypertension, asthma, and COPD, and support the wider clinical team through mentoring, clinical governance, and service development.

Key Responsibilities
* Leadership & Management
* Lead, support, and manage teams of practice nurses, healthcare assistants (HCAs), and other clinical support staff across practices.
* Ensure consistency in care standards and adherence to clinical governance frameworks.
* Coordinate recruitment, training, and development of nursing staff.
* Clinical
* Ensure safe, evidence-based clinical practices.
* Manage chronic disease protocols (e.g., diabetes, asthma, hypertension).
* Lead vaccination programs, wound care, and other nursing-led services.
* Quality Assurance & Compliance
* Ensure practices comply with Care Quality Commission (CQC) standards.
* Monitor clinical audits, incident reports, and patient safety metrics.
* Strategic Development
* Contribute to business planning, workforce development, and service redesign.
* Implement new models of care (e.g., multidisciplinary team working).
* Align nursing services with local Integrated Care Systems (ICSs) and Primary Care Networks (PCNs).
* Resource & Workforce Planning
* Manage staffing rotas, caseload distribution, and resource allocation.
* Assess future workforce needs and training gaps.
* Act as a liaison between nurses, GPs, practice managers, and external stakeholders.
* Facilitate information sharing, policy updates, and best practices across sites.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Registered Nurse (typically with a background in general practice or community nursing).
* Strong understanding of primary care systems, commissioning, and population health needs.
* Excellent communication, organizational, and change management skills.
* Ability to demonstrate experience in coaching & mentoring, training and development, strategic thinking, and change management.
