Job Description
The opportunity:
Due to increased workload, we are supporting a leading Defence organisation in their search for an experienced Principal Mechanical Design Engineer to work in all areas of the Product Life Cycles from Mechanical Future Concepts, Detailed Design and Qualification to Production and In-service Support.
You will be leading the development of mechanical solutions on a wide variety of complex defence systems whilst collaborating with wider multi-disciplinary teams.
What we're looking for from you:
1. Ideally Degree/HND/HNC qualified plus significant experience in Mechanical Design and Development.
2. The ability to lead mechanical design work packages and have experience of working within a multi-disciplinary team with the awareness and understanding of the challenges that this may bring.
3. Awareness of proving and qualification activities to ensure compliance against requirements.
4. Robust design experience using common development techniques such as DFMEA, DFA, DFM.
5. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal with the ability to influence and negotiate with partners across the business.
6. Experience of supplier engagement and development across internal and external multi-disciplinary teams.
