Medical Director Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS)
North East London NHS Foundation Trust (NELFT)
This is a rare and influential opportunity for an outstanding Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist to shape the future of CAMHS across one of the largest and most diverse NHS community providers in England.
As Medical Director for NELFT CAMHS, you will provide visible, values‑led medical leadership across our child and adolescent mental health services, combining strategic influence with clinical credibility. You will play a central role in improving outcomes for children and young people by championing high‑quality, equitable, and compassionate care across community, crisis, inpatient and system interfaces.
Working as a core member of the Chief Medical Officer’s Leadership Team and Wider Executive Management Team, you will help ensure that medical expertise shapes organisational and system‑level decisions. You will work in close partnership with operational leaders, system colleagues, and multidisciplinary teams across London and Essex to strengthen integration, reduce inequalities, and support early intervention and innovative models of care.
This role offers a unique balance of senior leadership (5 PAs) alongside a substantive consultant clinical role (up to 5 PAs), with flexibility to align clinical work to your expertise and interests. Flexible working options, including part‑time and job share, are actively supported.
We Are Looking For a Senior Doctor Who

* Brings credible medical leadership within complex, multidisciplinary environments
* Is committed to quality improvement, learning culture and staff wellbeing
* Leads with kindness, inclusion and courage, even in challenging contexts
* Is motivated by what is best for children, young people and their families
At NELFT, clinical leadership genuinely matters. You will join a Trust recognised for its commitment to quality improvement, workforce wellbeing, research and innovation, and inclusive leadership – and one that invests meaningfully in clinical leadership development.
If you are a senior CAMHS clinician ready to shape services at scale, influence system change, and role‑model compassionate medical leadership, we would be delighted to hear from you.
