The cardiac day unit and cardiac catheter lab here in the Royal Glamorgan Hospital are looking to recruit an enthusiastic, passionate and motivated band 5 registered nurse to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity to work in cardiology in Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board.
We provide a diagnostic cardiology service to adult patients in Rhondda Cynon Taff and Merthyr Tydfil. Our service provides outpatient diagnostic coronary angiograms, cardiac implantable devices including complex devices and implantable loop recorders, and transoesophageal echocardiograms.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will work as part of the cardiac catheter lab team and in the cardiac day unit, rotating between both. The post holder will be assisting cardiologists during diagnostic angiograms and device implant. Within this theatre style environment, the post holder will be expected to have both scrub and circulating duties, wearing ionising radiation protective aprons. When rotating to the cardiac day unit the post holder will be responsible for pre and post procedure care from admission to discharge. The post holder will also be expected to participate in the pre-assessment clinics for patients due to attend for procedures.
The positions are a full-time role working Monday to Friday 8am to 4pm daily; and a 30 hours per week role, working four days a week 8am to 4pm.
The successful candidate will be an adult registered nurse with sufficient post qualification experience in an acute health care setting. No cardiac catheter lab experience is necessary as full training will be provided. We are looking for an enthusiastic nurse with a passion for cardiology and an ambition to learn new skills and knowledge, and someone who puts patients at the heart of everything they do.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
