Job Details Band 5 Job summary There is an exciting opportunity for a 1 WTE Band 6 Speech and Language Therapist to join our friendly team based at Brighton General Hospital. You will be part of a large dynamic team and have opportunities to develop your clinical skills with support from both specialist and advanced practitioners. Post-qualification dysphagia training and experience is essential and you need to have had at least two years' experience in adult neurology if applying for the Band 6 role. We have some flexibility to adapt the role to a Band 5 - Band 6 development post for the right applicant (please see band 5 job spec). These applicants would ideally have a minimum of 6 months experience working within their Band 5 role, or be able to demonstrate experience from a relevant clinical placement in the area of adult neurology. Main duties of the job You will be working with patients who live across Brighton and Hove. The post holder will manage a varied community caseload, with adults presenting with both progressive and non-progressive conditions and a range of communication and swallowing difficulties. You will be supporting people with a range of conditions including: Parkinson's Disease, Dementia, Multiple Sclerosis, Motor Neuron Disease, Huntington's Disease, previous stroke, Progressive Supranuclear Palsy, and Primary Progressive Aphasias. You will also have the opportunity to shadow our dysfluency specialist SLT, and work alongside the specialist communication aid services. Our service works closely with MND, PD and MS Specialist Practitioners, and attend regular MDT meetings for patients.
