Monarch Education is working with a primary school in Birmingham to recruit a School First Aider to join their team from September 2025. This is a full-time position, ideal for someone who is trained and experienced in providing First Aid in a school setting, with a calm, caring, and professional manner.
Job Description
As a School First Aider, you will play a vital role in supporting the health and wellbeing of pupils and staff throughout the school day. Your key responsibilities will include:
* Providing first response medical assistance to pupils and staff who are unwell or injured during the school day.
* Administering first aid in line with training and school procedures, including managing more serious incidents until emergency services arrive.
* Maintaining accurate and up-to-date records of all incidents and treatment provided.
* Monitoring pupils with ongoing medical conditions, such as asthma, diabetes, or allergies, and administering medication as authorised.
* Ensuring the school's first aid kits and medical supplies are checked and restocked regularly.
* Assisting with health care plans and liaising with parents and external health professionals where needed.
* Supporting general administrative duties in the school office during quieter times, including pupil welfare tasks.
Requirements
* A valid First Aid at Work or Paediatric First Aid qualification is essential.
* Previous experience delivering first aid in a school or childcare setting is highly desirable.
* Strong organisational and communication skills, with the ability to remain calm under pressure.
* A warm, caring approach to working with children of all ages and abilities.
* Confidence in dealing with minor and more serious medical incidents appropriately.
* A valid enhanced DBS check on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one).
