Senior Pension Administrator - OX4 2SUNumber of Positions: 3Contract Type: PermanentSalary: £34434 - £37280Working Hours: 37Location: OxfordshireBusiness Unit: Financial & Commercial Services

About us

Are you looking for a role where your work makes a real difference to people’s lives?

Our Pension Services Team supports members of the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) and the Firefighter Pension Schemes. We are proud to offer a reliable, high‑quality service — and we are looking for enthusiastic Senior Pensions Administrators to join our team.

About the Role

You’ll join a friendly and supportive group of colleagues who help administer pension benefits for thousands of members across Oxfordshire. The work is varied: you’ll solve problems, support others, speak with employers, and help ensure accurate and timely pension payments.

We value learning, kindness, integrity, responsibility and innovation. These values guide everything we do and reflect the positive impact we aim to make every day.

What You’ll Be Doing

In this role, you will:

* Administer pension benefits in line with LGPS and/or Firefighters' Pension Scheme Regulations
* Support and mentor colleagues, offering technical advice
* Validate and update member data using the Altair pension system
* Carry out complex calculations — using the system or manually
* Work closely with employers, payroll teams and HR to maintain accurate information
* Provide clear and helpful guidance to scheme members by phone and in writing
* Support key processes such as year‑end tasks, CARE updates and pensioner payroll
* Represent Pension Services at meetings or induction sessions when needed

If you enjoy a mix of analytical work and customer contact, this role will suit you well.

About You

We would like to hear from you if you:

* Have strong experience in LGPS or Firefighter pension administration
* Can use the Altair system (or equivalent) with confidence
* Have good IT skills, especially in Word, Excel and Outlook
* Are comfortable working with numbers and solving problems
* Communicate clearly and deliver excellent customer service
* Can work flexibly — both independently and as part of a team
* Handle confidential information professionally and follow GDPR requirements

Experience with payroll processing, online portals or pension‑related qualifications is helpful, but not essential.

Salary & Working Arrangements

Salary: £34,434 – £37,280 (Grade 9)
Hours: 37 per week

We support flexible and agile working. The role is based at Kingsgate, Oxford (OX4 2SU), with a blend of office and remote work depending on service needs.
