The building contractor is known for delivering large construction projects across various market sectors.
We are seeking an Externals Envelope Manager with demonstrable longevity experience in varied sectors. The role carries ultimate responsibility for the Externals Envelope Package and reports directly to the Project Manager. The manager will oversee large-scale labour levels (400+ staff) and manage 30‑40 subcontractors on site at peak, coordinating 6‑8 facade subcontractors across 3‑4 blocks at varying construction stages.
Key Skills
* Plan works, prepare look‑ahead schedules and ensure materials/labour are available.
* Input in façade sub‑contract packages and scopes of work to ensure all items are included.
* Coordinate with logistics and contractors’ supervisors to ensure efficient work completion.
* Excellent written and verbal communication at all levels.
* Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
* Ability to meet tight deadlines and achieve targets.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office Word, Outlook, Excel, Procore.
* Contribute to daily briefings to coordinate works between parties.
* Confident in leading & chairing meetings, including writing effective minutes for envelope works.
* Understand temporary works, scaffold, hoists, and temporary propping.
* Co‑ordinate multiple trades in logistically challenging environments.
* In‑depth knowledge of current façade types, sequencing, and best practice.
* Experience with EWS‑1, Warranty provider & Golden thread.
* Confident in dealing with client teams.
* Commercial awareness.
* Ability to interrogate contractor & subcontractor programmes.
* Good understanding of site safety requirements.
Typical Duties
* Chair external works meetings and enforce construction programmes to ensure subcontractors meet targets.
* Issue clear, quality meeting minutes with actions & responsibilities.
* Carry out façade QA on Procore for each trade, providing photographic evidence as needed.
* Review inspection templates and provide comments with Q&E Manager.
* Complete site diary detailing daily works/labour.
* Collaborate with site members to resolve day‑to‑day site issues and settle disputes.
* Work with commercial & design teams to provide necessary design information for subcontractors.
* Coordinate with site H&S officer to ensure adherence to site rules and maintain safety & housekeeping standards.
* Ensure subcontractor QA is received timely and exercise authority to stand down works if required.
* Conduct site inspection walk‑arounds for Building Control, Warranty provider, and Clerk of Works.
* Review and approve day‑work sheets for subcontractors.
* Co‑ordinate logistics, including site set‑ups/changes.
* Attend DABS meetings as required.
* Stay updated on change control related to façade/envelope.
Requirements
* Proven longevity with previous employers.
* CSCS / SMSTS / First Aid certification.
* Strong communication skills.
* Proficient IT skills.
* Minimum of 5 years relevant experience.
