Hatchery Operations Supervisor - Tentburn
New Zealand King Salmon is the world’s largest producer of King salmon. We raise and market the finest salmon globally under the Ōra King, Regal, and Southern Ocean brands. We strive to grow healthy kai, healthy communities, healthy relationships, healthy environments, and healthy economies. This will contribute to growing a healthier Aotearoa and ultimately a healthier world.
We have an exciting opportunity for someone to join our Tentburn team as Hatchery Operations Supervisor.
Taking on this position, you will be responsible for overseeing the maintenance of equipment and machinery, coordinating with external contractors when necessary, to ensure the smooth running of our hatchery operations. Along with our 60 raceway smolt unit we have a brand-new facility that houses an incubation room and first feeding room with the latest technology to hatch and grow the ultimate salmon. Given the small team in which you will work, you will at times be involved with assisting in the day-to-day operations of the hatchery, while also training the hatchery team around the maintenance of equipment and machinery.
You will be an innovative, hands‑on individual who enjoys analysing and solving problems. A real motivated self‑starter, with the ability to work autonomously, you will also be a team player, ready to help the rest of the team when required. You will have good planning and organisational skills and can easily build rapport with team members and external contractors to ensure the job gets done.
Whilst you may not be a registered electrician or engineer, you will have experience working with machinery, pumps and other aquaculture associated equipment. Experience and knowledge of aquaculture and fish husbandry will also be of benefit to you in this role.
The New Zealand King Salmon Co Ltd is committed to a drug and alcohol‑free workplace and has a pre‑employment, post‑incident and reasonable cause drug testing programme in place.
All applicants must be legally entitled to work in New Zealand.
